What Do I Need to Do?
Communicate to Parents as Early as Possible
By bringing this offer to parents early in the recruiting process,
you can help them AND help your program at the same time.
Here are some major points to emphasize with new band/
orchestra parents at the earliest opportunity:
- Renting a high quality brand name instrument is usually less
expensive than buying, in both the short and long term.
- If the student stays in band/orchestra, much of the rental
price often goes to the purchase of the instrument,
and may even apply to the purchase of a step-up
instrument. And brand name instruments last much longer.
- If the student drops out, the rental payments will likely be
less than the purchase price of a “generic” instrument at any price.
- A brand name instrument is easier to sell and always welcomed back.
-If the student drops out and the parent sells the instrument to
another parent in the school district, a brand name instrument
is one that you would feel comfortable being recycled back
into your program.
- Renting or buying a student instrument from Conn-Selmer can help to
earn a FREE bass drum, chimes, baritone horn, bassoon, double bass, or
other instruments for your school.
- An instrument can be registered for up to three years, so the longer the
student stays in band or orchestra, the more points your school earns!
Students that choose “rental return” instruments can still participate
until the individual instrument’s three years are completed.
